The Sixth Mass Extinction Pavement Project for Inner West Council

Commissioned by the Inner West Council

For Newtown Edge.
A community engagement project
with a petition and public talks.

Outlined like murder victims at a crime scene, shapes and names reveal the identity of each extinct species whilst referring to its absence, becoming an urban record of eco-systemic collapse.

The Sixth Mass Extinction Pavement Project is a rallying cry for education and action on the looming extinction of hundreds of local animal and plant species as well as whole ecosystems.

I invited community members to help paint a pavement mural with stencils of endangered and extinct species in Newtown Streets. A petition to strengthen Australian EPBC laws and a series of public talks from academic scholars accompanied the mural.
